Instructions to Pair Orbi Netgear Devices (Router + Satellite)
Before You Begin
Use compatible devices: Ensure both your Orbi router and satellite are part of the Orbi system (not other Netgear extenders or routers).
Place the satellite near the router: During initial setup, place the satellite about 10–15 feet from the router.
Power on devices: Plug in both the Orbi router and satellite. Wait 2–3 minutes for them to fully boot.
Method 1: Using the Sync Buttons
Power on both the Orbi router and the satellite.
Wait for the satellite LED to begin blinking white, indicating it's ready to sync.
Press the Sync button on the router.
Within 2 minutes, press the Sync button on the satellite.
Wait for the LED on the satellite to show one of the following:
Solid Blue – Good connection
Solid Amber – Connection is fair (still usable)
Magenta (pink) – Failed to connect
If pairing fails:
Move the satellite closer to the router and repeat the steps.
If necessary, factory reset the satellite (hold the reset button for 10+ seconds until it flashes amber) and try again.
Method 2: Using the Orbi App
Download the Orbi app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Sign in or create a Netgear account.
Tap “Add Satellite” or “Set Up New System.”
Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the devices.
The app will guide you through syncing and verifying signal strength.
Optional: Use the Orbi Web Interface

Troubleshooting Tips
Magenta light: The satellite is not connecting. Move it closer to the router and retry.
Sync fails repeatedly: Factory reset the satellite and attempt the process again.
Poor signal: Consider placing the satellite at a midpoint between the router and the area needing coverage.
Firmware updates: Always update firmware after pairing to ensure compatibility and performance.
